As a person that not so into horror movie, to finally be brave enough to watch KKN Desa Penari can definitely be a story for me. Starting with following the thread of the same story on Twitter around 3 years ago, I kind of waiting the story to be made into a movie. Been postponed several times, finally the movie is premiering this year. Indeed, I’m really excited to watch!

Together with my cousins, I watched the movie 3 weeks ago. To me, personally, I believe the movie is quite satisfying. To be honest, I am a little bit puzzled when reading the thread. I can get the complete storyline but not the details. But after watching the movie, I finally discover the complete narrative to the most details.

In my honest opinion, this horror movie is a good fit for me. Not so many jumpscares, pleasant storyline, and the moral is just.. brilliant! As an Indonesian, we all should have known that there is a very common saying, “di mana bumi dipijak, di situ langit dijunjung”. For me, this proverb is perfectly reflect an Indonesian, it indicates that wherever we are at, we should always respect the rules that applied on that place.

For everyone that already watched or read the KKN Desa Penari story, we are all know the reason of ‘things’ that happened to the students was solely because they doesn’t obey the rules. As a person that loved outdoor and natural activities, I constantly remember this saying everywhere I go. I’m better off be considered coward to not doing something that break the rules rather than experiencing something that I don’t know how horrible it can be.

So last but not least, apart being the most popular horror movie this far, KKN Desa Penari is an outstanding movie to see. I think people need to see it so that they can appreciate the traditions, behave politely, and indeed, never break the rules.
